Huawei P40 Pro has the best camera in the world; see the complete list

We arrived in the second half of 2020 and companies like Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo have already started the year with "two feet in the door", gaining public and criticism with their top of the line cell phones.

Absolute leader

The P40 Pro, Huawei's main launch this year, was presented with the duty to continue the legacy of the P Series line (the letter "P" stands for "Photography").

The smartphone is currently ranked first on the site ranking with 128 points and does better than competitors in four of the six categories analyzed: Best for Photos, Best for Videos, Best for Night Mode, and Best for Zoom.

The P40 Pro stood out mainly in the dynamic range and quality of photos with a medium and long zoom. His overall photo score was an incredible 140 points, four points less than the Honor 30 Pro + - remembering that Honor belongs to Huawei.

With regard to night shots, excellent autofocus and excellent exposure levels have been identified, even if the model fails to capture more details in people's faces.

When it comes to the quality of the videos, Huawei's device has good white balance and vivid colors, in addition to excellent stabilization and decent dynamic range.

Another highlight of the P40 Pro is its two front cameras, which are also the best ever tested by the website's staff. They have excellent results in all lighting conditions, with precise exposure and color on the faces, wide dynamic range in photos, and high contrast. For having a dedicated sensor for depth measurement, selfies in portrait mode "are the best we've seen to date".

Samsung does not make ugly, but "disappoint"

Every year Samsung innovates in the set of cameras in the Galaxy S line and, although the S20 Ultra was launched with a 108 MP sensor - the largest equipped in a cell phone so far -, it was unable to debut even in the global top 5 of better cameras.

This is not to say that it is bad, but just far inferior to its competitors - all from Chinese manufacturers, by the way.

Even so, Samsung's smartphone took the award in the Best for Wide-angle Photos category. With 47 points, the website concludes that the wider lenses offer excellent exposure levels, in addition to vibrant and accurate colors in scenarios with good light conditions.

Despite not taking the title of best cell phone for selfies, the S20 Ultra shares the 2nd place in the category with the new 6, with the same 100 points, and only 3 below the P40 Pro - both are from Huawei.

A surprise when evaluating is the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. Even launched in 2019, Samsung's cellphone took in the category Best for Bokeh Effect (blurred background) - surpassing the S20 Ultra's 48 MP telephoto camera.

In its analysis, the site identified excellent results, with object isolation, excellent rendering, depth, and texture. Noise is also controlled, which gives Samsung an advantage over competitors indoors.
