After publicizing the X50 series a lot, the Chinese manufacturer Vivo finally made three smartphones in the family officially available.

It has a camera set with a gimbal-like stabilization capability, already shown in the Apex 2 concept. One of them, moreover, is announced as “the thinnest 5G smartphone in the world”.

The trio consists of X50, X50 Pro, and X50 Pro +. Only the last two have the innovative stabilization mechanism, while the first is the 5G smartphone with the smallest thickness ever seen.

The most advanced of the trio is still the only one with Samsung's new 50 MP camera, while the other two have a 48 MP sensor.

While the X50 Pro + comes equipped with the Snapdragon 865, the other two have taken the intermediate platform Snapdragon 765G.

Battery capacities are 4,200 mAh, 4,315 mAh, and 4,350 mAh, respectively, X50, X50 Pro, and X50 Pro +. The latter also supports 44 W recharging, against 33 W for the other two.

The three devices have the same 6.56-inch OLED screen with Full HD resolution. The difference is for the update frequency, of 90 Hz in the two intermediate models against 120 Hz at the top of the line.

The trio still has Android 10, which runs under the manufacturer's FunTouch OS 10.5 interface and also features a 32 MP front camera.

Cameras for video and night photos

It doesn't hurt to emphasize that the set of cameras is the highlight of the devices, especially the two X50 Pro. Each one has an extra level of photographic power, all of them with four cameras (at least one wide, one ultra-wide and one zoom).

The X50 has a 48 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 13 MP secondary camera with 2x zoom, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 5 MP macro camera, the latter being exclusive to this model.

The X50 Pro exchanges the macro camera for an 8 MP periscopic camera and includes “micro-gimbal” stabilization on the main.

The top of the line uses the new Samsung ISOCELL Bright GN1, 50 MP, and increases the resolutions of the cameras to 32 MP to 2x zoom, 13 MP to periscopic and 13 MP to ultra-wide.

Like the X50 Pro, this one also has the 60x Hyper Zoom feature, but probably only digital - it's probably not a hybrid system.

Among the possibilities that the photographic set offers are, still, the recording of photos of the stars, with their trail in the sky as the Earth revolves around the axis itself, and night images of excellent quality.

Vivo India's director-general Jerome Chen published some photos taken with the X50 Pro + on his Facebook profile.
