Honor Play 4 and Play 4 Pro are launched with 5G and sensor that measures temperature

Honor further expanded its mobile phone portfolio for 2020 with Honour Play 4 and  Honour Play 4 Pro. 

Confirming a series of recent leaks, the models arrive in China with very different configurations, in addition to 5G technology and an infrared sensor capable of measuring the temperature.

Honor Play 4 vs. Play 4 Pro

Despite being part of the same line, the two models share very few things in common. 

Starting with the similarities, both support 5G networks and come standard with Android 10 installed, but without the main apps and services of Google - since Honor, being a subsidiary of Huawei, suffers from the same sanctions that its owner from the US. Another detail is the headphone jack (3.5 mm) and the Magic UI 3.1 interface.

The Honor Play 4's screen is 6.81 inches, slightly larger than the 6.57 '' of the more powerful version. In both cases, there is Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels), IPS LCD panel, and 20: 9 aspect ratio.

Inside, the Play 4 Pro is equipped with Huawei's premium Kirin 990 chip, positioning the model in the high-end segment. 

The basic version, on the other hand, was confirmed with MediaTek's Density 800 processor - this one with intermediate characteristics. The two bring only 128 GB of internal storage and up to 8 GB of RAM, but the traditional Play 4 has an extra 6 GB variant.

Interestingly, the Honor Play 4 camera set is more complete than the Play 4 Pro, but there is a catch: the more powerful version is equipped with the same 40 MP RYYB sensor as the P40 Pro - considered the best camera phone in the world. 

In addition, there is another sensor with an 8 MP telephoto lens with a hybrid zoom of up to 30x.

Play 4 has four cameras at the rear: 64 MP (main), 8 MP (ultrawide), 2 MP (macro) and 2 MP (depth). At the front, another difference: the Pro version brings two cameras (32 MP + 8 MP) and the traditional one has only one 16 MP.

Regarding the battery, Play 4 has 4,300 mAh with a fast charge of 22.5 W. To keep it cool, there is a cooling system to prevent the device from overheating in heavier games. Play 4 Pro has 4,300 mAh and supports 40 W fast charging.

Temperature sensor

Exclusive to the Honor Play 4 Pro, the infrared sensor at the rear is capable of measuring not only the temperature of people and animals but also of objects. A few days ago, an Honor executive confirmed the presence of the resource with the promotional video below:

According to Honor, the smartphone itself does not emit infrared but absorbs the energy of a person or object to calculate the exact temperature. 

This infrared sensor can measure temperatures from -20º to 100º Celsius. The implementation of this technology in a cell phone is very welcome so that more people can take care of themselves and others in relation to possible highly contagious diseases.
